The Reference & User Services Association’s 2012 List of Notable Books for Adults

In January, ALA’s Notable Books Council creates a list of Notable Books for Adults for the new year, the list is divided into fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books. The council operates under the Collection Development and Evaluation Section of  the Reference and User Services Association; its mission is “to make available to the nation’s readers a list of 25 very good, very readable, and at times very important fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books for the adult reader.” The full list is available on the ALA website and in a Library Journal blog post.  The Notable Books Council also compiles a variety of otherlists including: The Listen List: Outstanding Audiobook Narration, The Reading List (genre fiction), and Outstanding Reference Sources.
